Miyashita Aoyama

Kurayamizaka Miyashita Aoyama, designed by Kengo Kuma, is a Japanese restaurant where architecture and nature exist in quiet harmony.

The exterior features vertical wooden slats that create a rhythmic façade, blending seamlessly with the surrounding bamboo grove. A long, bamboo-lined path enhances the transition from the bustling city to a tranquil, immersive environment.

Inside, the dimly lit, modern Japanese interior exudes warmth and intimacy. Private dining rooms are thoughtfully arranged to frame views of the bamboo garden, reinforcing the connection between architecture and nature. The interplay of light and shadow within the space reflects Kuma’s signature use of natural materials to create depth and atmosphere.

Notably, Kengo Kuma’s architecture office is located on the second floor, making the restaurant a direct extension of his design philosophy—where space, material, and experience converge.
