Rock-A-Hoola Water Park
Rock-A-Hoola Water Park, originally Lake Dolores, is an abandoned water park in the Mojave Desert near Barstow, California. Built in the 1960s and rebranded in the 1990s with a retro rock-and-roll theme, the park now sits empty. The pools are dry, their concrete cracked and sun-bleached. Water slides, faded and broken, stretch across the landscape. Graffiti covers snack stands and changing rooms. Rusting metal railings cast long shadows in the afternoon light. The desert has begun to reclaim the space, with sand and weeds creeping over the edges of what remains.
